This I Believe 2018

This+I+Believe+2018

On Tuesday, March 7, over 200 people flocked to the Delphi Opera House for the DCHS English Department’s anual This I Believe community event.  The motto for the evening is “Bringing people together – one essay at a time.” And the event truly does bring people together.

The historic ballroom is the perfect venue for an evening of awe-inspiring words from some of Delphi’s most talented writers. Sixteen students, four from each class, read their award-winning essays as the crowd was taken through a whole slew of emotions. The audience experienced laughter and tears, joy and pain, as the thoughtful and heartfelt words were spoken.

Some of this year’s topics were depression and anxiety, being the product of divorce, being the proud daughter of two immigrants, the importance of family, the magic in simplicity, and healing after the loss of loved ones.

Every audience member left feeling awed and impressed.  The unanimous conclusion of all adults in attendance was that DCHS has some talented students who have a lot of important things to say. The adults left feeling not only inspired but also confident that their future was in good hands.
