Peyton Manning faces HGH allegations

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has taken to the press lately to aggressively deny a claim in a documentary alleging that he and other professional athletes were prescribed human growth hormone, or HGH, by a doctor. An Al Jazeera documentary released Dec. 26 suggested that Manning may have used banned performance enhancing drugs, but the reporter who anchored the film said that he hadn’t accused Manning of anything.

The Guyer Institute is accused of providing Manning the drugs while he was recovering from neck surgery in 2011. Manning has always been a very conservative celebrity; he doesn’t like information regarding his family to circle the media. When news circled of Manning’s wife, Ashley, putting the prescription in her name to cover for her husband, Peyton grew increasingly agitated.

However, Charlie Sly, the central source of the allegations, recanted all of his statements made to the reporter, saying that everything said in the documentary, including statements about Manning’s wife,  were completely false. The news of Peyton Manning using a form of a steroid did not headline newspapers for long, in fact, it only lasted for about a week. This in itself has caused controversy. People are now making accusations that Manning paid reporters and news stations off because he didn’t want to deal with the repercussions of his actions.

At this time, no legal action has been taken. An investigation was performed, and Manning was revealed to be the squeaky clean quarterback that he has always been.
