Do you get the blues when it is dark and rainy outside? Strangely enough, it has been proven that listening to some good tunes can boost the brain’s production of the hormone dopamine. And this increased dopamine can help relieve feelings of anxiety and depression which can happen due to rain or gloomy days. Music is processed through a part of the brain, called the amygdala, that is involved with mood and emotions. Because of this, listening to peppy, upbeat music can actually change your emotions to make you happier. So here are some random cheery songs that you can play to make that sun shine through on those rainy days.

  1. ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams
  2. ‘Three Little Birds’ by Bob Marley & The Wailers.
  3. ‘Walking on Sunshine’ by Katrina & The Waves.
  4. ‘Best Song Ever’ by One Direction
  5. ‘Dancing Queen’ by ABBA
  6. ‘A Beautiful Morning’ by The Rascals
  7. ‘Adore You’ by Harry Styles
  8. ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)’ by Whitney Houston
  9. ‘Good Vibrations’ by The Beach Boys
  10. ‘Dynamite’ by BTS.
  11. ‘All You Need is Love’ by The Beatles

Hopefully these songs will get you dancing and singing around the house and into a better mood. For the most part these songs all have really good messages or make you feel empowered enough to take over the world. These songs may not be your vibe, so listen to whatever makes you happy and that you know will work for you. Next time you feel down or it is rainy outside, turn up the tunes and turn down the negative vibes.
