Litter box 2.0

Every indoor cat owner has a common daily chore they would love to see go away, cleaning the litter box. This chore is time consuming, and if we’re honest— gross. Nobody wants to clean the litter box. Even after the job is done, the litter box itself is an unattractive aspect of the home and never seems to stop smelling. After years of the litter box blues, Rebecca Rescate came up with a solution.

Shortly after moving to an apartment in New York City, Rebecca realized that she did not only not have room for her cat’s litter box, but she also just did not have the time to deal with it. She had heard from one of her friends that it was possible to toilet train cats and decided to do some research. She quickly realized that though toilet training a cat was possible, there was not any kind of system that could help her simplify the process. Rescate then created what is known today as the CitiKitty, the world’s best selling and most effective cat toilet training system.

While toilet training a cat may seem silly, CitiKitty has had huge success. The product received many newspaper write-ups, and Rescate appeared on radio interviews and various television shows including ABC’s Shark Tank.

The process is fairly simple. First switch out your cats’ normal litter with a flushable litter of your choice, move a litterbox by a toilet, and eliminate any additional litter boxes. For one day, it is recommended that the litter box is kept on top of the toilet to give cats an idea of what is going on. After all of the steps are completed, the CitiKitty system comes into play. The specially designed training seat should be slid on top of your toilet bowl and then filled with the flushable litter, and the old litter box should be removed from the household. As your cat or cats adjust to the new arrangement, small amounts of this training seat are removed a little at a time until it no longer exists and the cat is toilet trained.

As crazy as it may sound, the system works if the owners are willing to put some time into to it.  If you need to see it to believe it, watch the video at the link below or check out the CitiKitty website.
