Spring sports set to start

Track

The track and field team is looking stronger than ever this year. The team is boasting an extremely strong distance team, as well as a noteworthy group of sprinters and throwers. Mr. Schuller, the new head coach, is hoping to bring some excitement into the program. Everyone is hopeful for the upcoming season.

Golf

With six returning starters, the golf team will surely be a force to reckon with this season. With the majority of the teams starters returning, coach Rob Roth is very excited. The team is looking to make a run far beyond sectionals.

Baseball

Delphi baseball has been one of the best programs in the area for some time. With more players than in years past, and three seniors, the team is looking to continue the success. Coach Yoder brings energy and excitement to what should prove to be a very strong team.

Girls tennis
With five returning starters and 28 total players (eight more than last year, the girls tennis team is looking stronger than ever. Coach Lawton is pushing the team toward a high placing in Hoosier conference, and is excited to see how the girls fare against Jeff and Mccutcheon, as they are joining the Delphi invitational this year. However, the team is about more than competition. Coach Lawton is focused on teaching the game of tennis and doesn’t cut any players. Also, the new middle school program is feeding the program many new, much-needed freshmen.

Softball

With nearly every starter returning to the team, the softball program is looking very solid. Coach Gilbert has been honing their skills and soon they will be ready for a great season. When the team works together they are nearly unstoppable, and the girls know it. There is a good chance that the team will go very far this spring.
