In honor of Delphi preparing to play the Frankfort Hot Dogs at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse, one particular DCHS Friday Frenzy began with a morning hot dog eating contest. Two teachers, Mr. Anderson and Mr. Tonsoni; and two students, Bryer Houston and Kyle Fehlberg, willingly engorged themselves at 8:00 a.m. one early Friday morn.
Mr. Tonsoni entered the scene from the top steps – hat backwards, beats on ears, jumping around like Rocky Balboa – appropriately gearing up for the big event. Bryer Houston admitted later: “I was a little nervous. It suddenly dawned on me that the entire student body was watching.”
Mrs. Atkinson, the school nurse, was hovering nearby as the feasting began. It was an ugly yet entertaining sight. One begs the question: What won’t some people to do in the name of school spirit?
