Football Homecoming 2015

Everyone’s favorite week filled with spirit, football, and princesses have come and gone once again. Here’s a review of football homecoming 2015.

Spirit week: Each year, student council peps up the school with theme days. This week we had PJ Monday, Twin Tuesday, Hick Wednesday, Throwback Thursday, Black Out Friday. Some students went all out every day!

Powderpuff: On Wednesday of last week, girls powderpuff football took the field and a week later boys powderpuff volleyball competed in the main gym. In both of the final games, the juniors faced the seniors. The seniors conquered all and won first place. Juniors came in second, and Sophomore and Freshman followed in both situations.

Pep rally: In the pep rally on Friday, the faculty competed against the senior boys’ powderpuff volleyball team. The faculty won once again. Also, this past summer, the football team participated in a state-wide blood drive sponsored by the Indianapolis Colts. Our football team won the competition and were honored at the pep session. Two Colts cheerleaders came to the school and brought along the Lombardi trophy. The same trophy that is awarded to the winner of the Super Bowl.

Homecoming court: Every year a girl is selected from each class to be a homecoming princess. The girls picked by their classes were freshman Lauren Hawn, sophomore Morgan Fritz, and junior Erika Ross. Four senior girls were also picked as queen candidates. The girls chosen were Myka Roth, Gabby Evans, Danielle Swayze, and Erika Carroll. Everyone voted and Danielle Swayze was crowned Homecoming Queen 2015.

Shopping cart: For the annual food drive held this time of year, the student council puts on a shopping cart contest. Representatives and students from each class decorate a shopping cart to be presented at the homecoming game. This year, the sophomore class won. Following were the freshmen, seniors, and finally the juniors.

The game: The Delphi Oracles faced off against the Benton Central Bison. The game was intense, but the Oracles defeated the Bisons with a score of 27-26.

It has been another successful homecoming week at DCHS!
