Clerks is the 1994 cult classic comedy, directed by the then first time director, Kevin Smith. Being shot in black and white might seem like an odd choice but it adds to the movie, (also they didn’t have much of a budget). Despite all of this it is the best movie I have ever seen. It’s one of those day-in-the-life type movies, which are my favorite. It feels a lot like one of my other favorite movies, Waiting… It starts with Dante Hicks, the main character, finding out he has to work today when he isn’t scheduled because his boss is coming in late. He gets to his work, a convenience store, and he is told he just has to work until noon, and then his boss will come and take his shift. Unfortunately his boss doesn’t show up and he has to work until closing. The movie is split up into multiple “chapters” and in each of these there’s a skit. While there is an overarching problem that the story is pushed forward by, there are funny bits all throughout. The main problem is that Dante wants to get back with his ex from high school but he also has a girlfriend right now, so he has to pick. To decide he consults his best friend and coworker, (also the best character), Randall Graves, who listens to Dante’s selfish complaining. You might not want to watch it because it’s in black and white, but trust me after about 5 minutes you don’t even notice it. The humor is a little crude, but very funny. One of the best movies of all time, 10/10.
