DCHS sophomore Hunter Mote extended the streak of Oracle wrestlers to qualify for state to 8 years this past weekend at the Merrillville semi-state. Mote, the Lafayette Jeff sectional champion at 170 lbs, won his first match by a count of 9-2. In the second round, where a win results in a qualification for state, Hunter beat his opponent 4-3. This not only advanced him to state but allowed him to get revenge on a loss from earlier in the season. Mote dropped his semifinal match but won the consolation match to secure third place, and he enters Friday’s opening round at Bankers Life Fieldhouse with a record of 30-3.
