Where are you from? 

Hillsboro, IN–I went to Fountain Central

 

Tell us about your family. 

I have been married for 7 years, and we have 2 boys: Myles (5) and Maverick (2)

 

What college did you attend?

Ball State University

 

What were you doing before you came to Delphi? 

I taught 7th grade at Lewis Cass for 7 years

 

What inspired you to become a teacher?

 I have always loved English and my aunt and grandpa were both English teachers

 

How do you like working at Delphi so far? 

I love it here!

 

What are some of your hobbies? 

Running, reading, basketball, watching tv, hanging with my family, traveling

 

What is a fun fact about you? 

I have a twin sister; we are not identical though!

 

 

Mrs. Warenski

Where are you from? 

I am from Orem, Utah.

 

Tell us about your family. 

I’ve been married for 18 years this month. I have four boys, all of whom go to Delphi schools.

 

What college did you attend?

I graduated with my Associates Degree from Utah State University and earned my Bachelor’s from Brigham Young University-Idaho.

 

What were you doing before you came to Delphi? 

I’ve been a substitute teacher for the past four years.

 

What inspired you to become a teacher?

I found my passion for teaching in small groups when I was in high school.  I have spent time in several different majors and just have found that I really enjoy helping teach math and helping others learn to tolerate math. 

 

How do you like working at Delphi so far? 

I have loved working in Delphi schools.  I have amazing coworkers and students that make each and every day a fun one.

 

What are some of your hobbies? 

My hobbies include playing the ukulele and piano, sewing and machine embroidery, and baking very unhealthy desserts.

 

 

Mrs. Knoth

Where are you from? 

I’m from Delphi.

 

What college did you attend?

Ivy Tech

 

What were you doing before you came to Delphi? 

Assistant Distribution Manager for Prairie Farms

 

What inspired you to become a teacher?

I love working with kids. 

 

How do you like working at Delphi so far? 

I really like it. Everyone is so welcoming. 

 

What are some of your hobbies? 

I’m a mom. I love baseball and soccer. Love watching my kids play sports. I like flowers and gardening.

 

What is a fun fact about you? 

I have coached baseball and soccer for many years in Carroll County.

 

 

Mr. Totten

Where are you from? 

Monticello area

 

Tell us about your family. 

My wife and I have four boys, the youngest is in 6th grade and the oldest is a senior this year.

 

What college did you attend?

Owens Community College in Ohio. I studied automotive tech.

 

What were you doing before you came to Delphi? 

I was a diesel technician at a truck dealership.

 

What inspired you to become a teacher?

The opportunity came to me, and I decided to give it a shot. 

 

How do you like working at Delphi so far? 

It’s great. 

 

What are some of your hobbies? 

I like playing on the lake and working on car and go-cart projects with the boys. 

 

Mrs. Murray

Where are you from? 

Winchester, Indiana (but have lived in Carroll County since 1993)

 

Tell us about your family. 

I have been married to Dave Murray (DCHS ‘83 grad) for 33 years. We have three sons (Cody, Cole, and Cade–all DCHS grads), three grandchildren (Kota 4, Harlynn 3, Cash 2), and two grandgoldens (Larkin and Piper). 

 

What college did you attend? 

Hanover College

 

What were you doing before you came to Delphi?

Thirty years ago, I was working as the Recreation Director for Four Seasons Retirement Center in Columbus, Indiana.

 

What inspired you to become a teacher? 

Ultimately, the students were my inspiration, as I had never entertained the idea of teaching in the high school setting. Thank you Class of 2023 (and 2024)!

 

How do you like working at Delphi so far? 

I like it! I have always enjoyed working at the school but love this new vibe of the high school environment. 

 

What are some of your hobbies? 

Walking, reading, writing, wordling, hanging out on Lake Monroe, spending time with family

 

What is a fun fact about you? 

This past spring, I met and posed for pictures with one of my favorite authors, Elin Hilderbrand, while vacationing in the US Virgin Islands. 

 

 

Mr. Allen

Where are you from? 

I am from good old Delphi. I am an ‘06 alum.

 

Tell us about your family.

I have 2 beautiful/ornery children with my wife Katelyn Allen (who is the corporation nurse and the better half – lol.

 

What college did you attend?

I went to Vincennes University where I studied Business Administration then joined the military where I trained and was certified in HVAC.

 

What were you doing before you came to Delphi?

I worked as a HVAC technician for several years and then went into the manufacturing world where I have trained and coordinated all different types of individuals. 

 

What inspired you to become a teacher?

I have always wanted to be a history teacher. I just love history. And now that I am an adult, I think there is nothing more rewarding than to see a kid’s face light up when they finally learn what you have been practicing or teaching. I also want to let these young adults know that no matter what, they have people that respect and understand them. I am living proof that a leopard can change its spots.

 

How do you like working at Delphi so far?

I love it here. Everyone is so friendly, and it helps knowing a few staff members who were here when I attended as a student. I feel very blessed to be a part of the school I attended.

 

What are some of your hobbies?

I love to watch any kind of sport. I love to play golf even though I’m terrible at it. I also enjoy bowling and throwing darts, as well as fishing when I can find time and being with my family. I love to see my children grow and learn.

 

What is a fun fact about you?

I bowled a perfect game once.

 

 

Mrs. Normann

Where are you from? 

I’m from Indiana and grew up in Boone County.  

 

Tell us about your family.

My son is in 8th grade – he just started at Delphi Middle School this year.

 

What college did you attend?

Butler University for undergrad and IU Indianapolis for graduate school

 

What were you doing before you came to Delphi?

I worked as an EL instructor in Lebanon (Indiana).

 

What inspired you to become a teacher?

I have several relatives for whom English is a second language – they inspired me to teach in my subject area.  

 

How do you like working at Delphi so far?

Delphi has been wonderful so far!  All the staff and administration have been very welcoming.

 

What are some of your hobbies?

We have pets (cat and 3 dogs) and love to travel, even short getaways, when we are able.

 

 

Mr. Bradford

Where are you from? 

Phoenix, Arizona

 

Tell us about your family.

I am married to an extremely patient wife with 3 daughters, 1 grandson, 2 dogs, and 4 cats.  Pretty sure the cats don’t love me.

 

What college did you attend?

University of Arizona

 

What were you doing before you came to Delphi?

Teaching, drawing, trying to meditate on the meaning of existence before remembering that I can be playing video games, so I do that for a bit.

 

What inspired you to become a teacher?

Just the love of helping youths learn to express themselves like the brilliant creatives they are.

 

How do you like working at Delphi so far?

So far so amazing.  These students are crazy rad.  The beautiful faculty tolerate my awkwardness.  And the admin remembers my name every morning!

 

What are some of your hobbies?

Art things, watching monster movies, collecting hideous coffee mugs, and listening to my brilliant daughters monologue about whatever video game they are currently into.

 

What is a fun fact about you?

I can wiggle my ears.  Pretty sweet, right??

 

Mr. Kochman

Where are you from? 

I grew up in Illinois and went to college in Chicago. 

 

Tell us about your family. 

I have a daughter who is two months old, Ms. Armstrong is my fiance, and I have a black lab named Blue who is 3 years old. 

 

What college did you attend?

VanderCook College of Music

 

What were you doing before you came to Delphi? 

I was teaching music at Tri-Central.

 

What inspired you to become a teacher?

I always knew I wanted to teach. I think out of all the grade levels, I work best with the high school. 

 

How do you like working at Delphi so far? 

I like working at Delphi. 

 

What are some of your hobbies? 

I play my saxophone for various things, I do barbershop choir, I have been recently getting into playing the ocarina (as much as it’s spyware, I play the ocarina on TikTok [@mr.kochman]), I play games on my PC, and I spend lots of time with my dog, baby, and fiance. 

 

What is a fun fact about you? 

A fun fact about me is that I am a twin! My brother was active in the military (USMC) for 4 years and now he is in school to get his pilot’s license for flying helicopters.

 

 

Mrs. Robbins

Where are you from?  

I am originally from Delphi but currently live in Frankfort.

Tell us about your family.

I have been married to my husband for 7 years and we have 2 little girls, ages 4.5 and 6 months. 

What college did you attend?

Purdue University, BOILER UP!

What were you doing before you came to Delphi?

I worked at Frankfort High School as their athletic trainer for 9 years.

 

What inspired you to become an athletic trainer?

I wanted to become an athletic trainer because I sprained my ankle my freshman year of track and worked with Lisa, the athletic trainer at the time, and fell in love with the process. 

How do you like working at Delphi so far?

It has been interesting to come back to my hometown. I enjoy seeing faces and talking to people that I haven’t seen in a very long time.

What are some of your hobbies?

I love to camp and to be outdoors in general. I also enjoy exercising, particularly lifting weights. 

What is a fun fact about you?       

I used to hold the 100m hurdle record at Delphi.

 

 

Mr. Hedde

Where are you from? 

I am a fourth generation Hoosier, mostly in Carroll and Cass counties.

 

Tell us about your family. 

I have a lovely wife Billie. We have three children: Amy, Mike, and Lydia, and we have three grandsons.

 

What college did you attend? 

IU Kokomo and IUPUI

 

What were you doing before you came to Delphi?

 I raised, trained, and showed quarter horses. I worked in excavating and was clerk/treasurer for the Town of Camden. I taught at Logansport, Carroll, and Rossville. Then after back surgery that caused me to retire early, I found myself teaching again at Kokomo and Frontier before landing at Delphi. 

 

What inspired you to become a teacher? 

I was looking for something more steady than what the horse business offered. I took some education classes at IUK and found out that teaching was something I enjoyed doing. 

 

How do you like working at Delphi so far? 

It is good to be an Oracle. 

 

What are some of your hobbies? 

I enjoy traveling with and seeing family and friends. I enjoy golf, but I’m not good at it.

 

What is a fun fact about you?

I have ridden both live and mechanical bulls. 

 

 

Mrs. Shiflett

Where are you from? 

I grew up in southeastern Indiana – Jennings County.

 

Tell us about your family. 

I have been married to Mr. Shiflett for 22 years and we have twin daughters, Emma and Abigail. They graduated from Harrison High School last year. We have two dogs, Jack & Sam. We have lived in Lafayette for 20 years.

 

What college did you attend? 

I went to Indiana State University for my undergrad degree, Ball State University for my masters, and Purdue University for a few add ons to my teaching license.

 

What were you doing before you came to Delphi? 

Before coming to Delphi, I was a first grade teacher for 10 years and then moved to the middle school as a teacher for English Language Learners.

 

What inspired you to become a teacher? 

I have always wanted to be a teacher. I came to high school because I love kids. Education is important in all levels and I am excited to be part of the team at Delphi.

 

How do you like working at Delphi so far? 

I love it! Everyone is very helpful and easy to get along with.

 

What are some of your hobbies? 

I love watching high school and college football and basketball; when I’m not doing that, I love to read.

 

 

Ms. Wilson

Where are you from? 

I was born and raised in Delphi.

 

Tell us about your family. 

We are all very close, we enjoy spending time together.

 

What college did you attend? 

I will be attending Ivy Tech or Purdue next fall.

 

What were you doing before you came to Delphi?

I was working for the Carroll County Courthouse.

 

What inspired you to come work at the high school? 

I have more connections in the school and I knew that I would have amazing people to surround me in my everyday life. 

 

How do you like working at Delphi so far? 

Love it!

 

What are some of your hobbies? 

I love to read and go on walks.

 

What is a fun fact about you?

I am very blunt!

 

 

Mrs. Griffey

Where are you from? 

I am from Camden.

 

Tell us about your family.

I have 3 amazing kiddos: Jaidyn who is in 8th grade, Elianna (goes to Southwestern) who is in the 6th grade, and Jesse who is in 2nd grade. I have an amazing fiancé and a pet hamster.

 

What college did you attend? 

I went to Ivy Tech, and if you want to count YouTube as a college we can say that also. ;)

 

What were you doing before you came to Delphi? 

Before I came to Delphi I was and still am running my own photography business. I was also a manager at Plato’s Closet for the last 5 years.

 

What inspired you to become a teacher? 

My passion for photography is what inspired me to become a teacher.

 

How do you like working at Delphi so far? 

I absolutely love it.

 

What are some of your hobbies? 

I enjoy taking pictures at sporting events. I also love listening to music.

 

What is a fun fact about you? 

Fun fact, if I’m not taking pictures I love spending time with my kiddos or just hanging with friends.
