Welcome to DCHS to all the new staff!

This school year, DCHS is happy to welcome three new staff members, as well as to welcome back Mrs. Andrews. These new staff members include the new principal, Mr. Shuler; the new athletic director, Mr. Dale; and the new choir director, Ms. Armstrong

Mr. Dale

DCHS is happy to welcome our new athletic director Mr. Dale. He has a wife, Hilary, who teaches kindergarten in West Lafayette, and two kids who go to Delphi. His hobbies include traveling the world, duck hunting, and racing quarter midgets with his kids. Some interesting facts about Mr. Dale are that he is fluent in Spanish and he has visited 38 states, 9 countries, and 3 continents.

Mr. Dale grew up and graduated from Delphi and attended Purdue University. Afterward, he worked as a marketing director in minor league baseball in Peoria, Illinois. He then came back and worked in this area. He taught computer graphics at Delphi, ran the business department at Eastern, taught math at Twin Lakes, and was an athletic director and assistant principal at Frankfort before finally coming back home. This year, Mr. Dale’s main goals are to “have fun, increase student participation in the athletic department, and win championships.”

Mr. Shuler

Our new principal is Mr. Shuler. He is a father to three kids. He has a 6 year old, a 10 year old, and a 13 year old. He enjoys taking them camping and spending time with his family.

Mr. Shuler is a Delphi alumnus, class of 1998. After high school, he attended both Purdue and Ball State where he obtained a master’s degree in finance. He started his teaching at Delphi after that as a business teacher. After Delphi, he headed to Carroll and was the assistant principal of their middle and high school, before eventually becoming the principal of the elementary school. Now, he is our DCHS principal and he has one major goal in mind. Mr. Shuler said, “The plan is to create a learning environment to bring everyone back together and be involved in the school.”

Ms. Armstrong

Delphi’s new choir director is Ms. Armstrong. Her boyfriend is the band director at Tri-Central, and they have a pet dog. His name is Blue, and he is a black lab they adopted in March. Other than music, Ms. Armstrong enjoys reading and playing the Sims 4. An interesting fact about her is that during her freshman year of college, she was hit by a car.

Ms. Amstrong is a 2020 graduate from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, a school solely focused on music education. She worked one semester as the assistant band director at West Lafayette before coming to Delphi. According to Ms. Armstrong, the goal for her first year at Delphi is to start growing the choir program.
