For the past few years, the Delphi School Corporation has been privileged to host many foreign exchange students. This year, four exchange students are walking the halls of DCHS, and are excited to dive into American and midwestern culture. Here are some fast facts so you can get to know them:

Miles Benarczyk: Poland

  • Who is your host family?
    • The Beatty Family (from Logansport)
  • What is your least favorite thing about America so far?
    • The people — when I first arrived, I was expecting everyone to be talking to me, asking who I was and where I was from, but they didn’t.
  • What is your favorite thing about America so far?
    • Honestly, just the experience of being in America. It hit me in my host mom’s car one day, and I just started tearing up. (I’m a bit of an emotional person.) My host mom started freaking out, asking why I was crying, and I just said, “I’m in America!”
  • What are some things you enjoy?
    • I enjoy rock music, and used to be a fencer. I really like traveling, and my favorite place I’ve been to is Madagascar.
  • What are some activities you’d like to participate in at DCHS?
    • Maybe softball, and some other stuff.

Sarah Kase: Germany

  • Who is your host family?
    • The Knechtel Family (Kieron & Daelen Brown)
  • What is your least favorite thing about America so far?
    • I really don’t like the water here. It has a lot more iron than water back home does. The food here isn’t healthy either.
  • What is your favorite thing about America so far?
    • I really like the people here. They are very friendly and open.
  • What are some things you enjoy?
    • I like horseback riding and reading books.
  • What are some activities you’d like to participate in at DCHS?
    • Possibly dance?

Vega Kangasmaki: Finland

  • Who is your host family?
    • The Knechtel Family (Kieron & Daelen Brown)
  • What is your least favorite thing about America so far?
    • The food here isn’t the best. The water also does feel a bit different than it usually does for me.
  • What is your favorite thing about America so far?
    • The people here are very nice. They are a lot more social than people in my country usually are.
  • What are some things you enjoy?
    • I like to travel, take photographs, and really like drawing and art. Back in Finland, I was on the cheer team.
  • What are some activities you’d like to participate in at DCHS?
    • I am on the cross country team right now and am really enjoying it so far.

Pat Ruanglapanan: Thailand
