“Sinatra 100” tribute to Frank Sinatra

Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, some of the biggest names in music gathered together to celebrate the life and legacy of 100-year-old musical legend, ‘ol blue eyes himself, Frank Sinatra.

“He really created the greatest school of popular singing and made it possible for all of us to have a great living doing this,”  Tony Bennett, 89, said via phone from Las Vegas this week shortly before the taping of the show at the Wynn Encore Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The event entitled “Sinatra 100 – An All-Star Grammy Concert” included performances from Tony Bennett, Garth Brooks, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Adam Levine, Carrie Underwood, and Usher. The television special also included performances of some Sinatra classics accompanied with rare archival footage narrated by the man himself.

The whole cast was beyond appreciative to be there to represent all that Frank Sinatra was – they couldn’t contain their excitement. Robert Santelli, executive director of the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, said about the legend: “Today, of course, music has become so diverse, but there are common denominators. One of them is being a great entertainer, another is being a great vocalist, and Sinatra was both.”

Whatever genre it was that was being represented, everyone had a touch of the Sinatra flare as they took the stage. With a smile on their face and a spring in their step, the performers stood on the silhouette stage and honored the legend known as “The Voice.”

Frank Sinatra was and still is the standard to which all artists strive to aspire. Sinatra may have faced his final curtain in 1998, but the stars of today are ensuring that the legacy is never torn down.
