This week our athlete of the week poll ended in a three-way tie between Kaydn McAtee, Hunter Tate, and Miley Ayon!
Kaydn McAtee, junior, has been playing inspired football in his first year of varsity action. Through the first four weeks, “KMac” has thrown 10 touchdowns to only 2 interceptions and rushed for an additional touchdown against Carroll. In his first game as the starting quarterback, he threw 5 touchdowns against BC, and he followed that performance by throwing two or more touchdowns in 3 of the next four games. He is among the area leaders in TD passes entering a week five conference match-up against Tri-Central.
Co-captain of the volleyball team, Hunter Tate, started the season as an outside hitter and was able to get 24 kills. She has since then been switched to a setter and right side hitter, now with 27 assists and 54 digs. Hunter has been able to adjust to any position she’s been asked to play and continues to lead and support the team especially when they need it most.
Unlike our other athletes, Miley Ayon was nominated for both cheer and cross country. This summer she was named “All-American” at the teams overnight UCA camp. For Cross country she has medalled at 2 meets so far and has placed individually 5 times. Miley is described as a hard worker from many of her teammates and an overall amazing person to be on a team with.
