DCHS hosts exchange students most every year. This year’s students are (from left to right) Eva Frechede, Karolina Jandova, and Maite Vilar Muchiutt.

Eva Frechede

Where are you from?

South of France (Mirepeix).

Who is your host family?

It’s the Knechtel family (Barry, Debbie, Oliver).

What is your favorite thing about America?

My favorite thing in America is that people seem to be happy and most of them are very helpful.

What is your least favorite thing about America?

My least favorite thing in America is the insecurity we can have in the schools (scared of shooters).

What are you interested in at Delphi?

I like the fact that it is a little city because the school is also little so it is easier to make friends. I also like where the town is (next to Lafayette and Indianapolis).

What are you most excited about experiencing?

I’m excited to know and create a friendship with several Americans.

Why did you want to come?

I wanted to come here because I like your school system and also because I wanted to know more about American culture.

Fun fact about yourself?

When I was little, my mother tried to teach me the Icelandic language but I was too stubborn, so my mother gave up. Now I regret it because I’m not bilingual. I can only understand certain sentences and speak a little bit in Icelandic.

Definitely the food.

What are you interested in at Delphi?

In Brazil, schools don’t have sports, teams, and competitions. I’m excited to be part of a team.

Meeting new people.

Why did you want to come?

I wanted to come to America to learn English because today English is a universal language and I would need it for my future in college and to mature as a person.

If you see these three ladies in the hall make sure to introduce yourself and them welcome them to Delphi!
