Michael Jackson’s “Xscape” topping the charts
Michael Jackon. He is arguably the biggest and most well known musical figure to ever live. He has been known for many things: defying the law of gravity when entering the dance floor, working feverishly to change the world, going beyond what any other artist had ever dreamed of achieving, and impacting the music world in a way that no one could have ever anticipated. Even in his tragic death, the mastermind behind the short film “Thriller” is still topping the charts.
When his album Xscape released on May 13, 2014, there were many mixed feelings about it. Quincey Jones, the director who collaborated with The King Of Pop on “Bad” said, “Everybody’s about money. The estate, the lawyers. It’s all about the money.” It is clear that Jones is not a fan of the “new stuff”. However, fans around the world are ecstatic, as they finally get to hear the last of Michael’s fresh music. Although we are all saddened by the death of a man that many have looked up to their entire life, it seems as though we never see the last of him. At the Billboard Awards this year, we saw Michael in a completely different light, literally! A hologram, that had taken 3 years to perfect, was broadcasted onto the green screen located on the back of the stage to project a very realistic version of The King Of Pop. In 2015, we are expected to see the critically acclaimed “Best short film in musical history” make its way onto the 3D screen.
For those who haven’t been a fan of Jackson, many of the hits from the album are played repeatedly on the radio. From “Slave To The Rhythm ” to “Love Never Felt So Good,” Michael’s voice echoes through the car speakers on a regular basis. Now, many have asked the question that we’ve all been wondering, “Why wasn’t this album released earlier?” Michael’s sister, Janet Jackson, has been the first relative of Michael’s to speak on this matter. “Well, the truth is, Michael never wanted these songs released. They were testers. Nothing serious.”
Now knowing the truth behind the history of “Xscape,” many wonder why the Jackson family would let the album be released. Sources have told us that the idea that people will never hear those genius pieces by Michael, outweighed Michael’s perfectionist attitude. We can’t say that Michael would be “rolling over in his grave” over this controversial decision, but we can be sure that there was a reason that Michael had kept it hidden for so long.
Now, this is Michael Jackson, and with Michael Jackson comes grammys, a lot of grammys. This is the Michael Jackson that once earned 8 grammys for his groundbreaking short film, “Thriller,” so, many expect for there to be grammys in the near future. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look likely. Back in 1988, there was a conspiracy with Michael’s album, “Bad”. Many people believed that he got cheated out of many seemingly obvious grammy wins. Michael was nominated for eight different categories that night, and left empty handed. Since this incident, people have been very suspicious as to if Michael will get what he deserves in terms of his amazing talent.
Michael has been in the spotlight since the age of five. Everything he has ever done has been scrutinized and micro-managed, but rest assured, the name “Jackson” will live in infamy for the rest of time.
