Indiana Packers in trouble over recently hiring illegal immigrants

Recently, Indiana Packers has been met with a lawsuit accusing the company for hiring illegal immigrants. The complaint was filed by Andrew O’Shea against Marisol Martinez and James Harding. O’Shea has accused Indiana Packers of hiring hundreds of illegal immigrants over the past four years.

O’Shea told reporters Indiana Packers does not check out their employees well enough. Many of the employees have said that they are illegal immigrants. The complaint states that the people who hire employees at Indiana Packers do not do a good enough background check. It is though that many of the employees are using the same social security number in order to get a job. If a hiring team suspects someone of being an illegal immigrant, they are supposed to ask the employee and do and background check. Apparently, this has not been happening.

Indiana Packers has commented that the allegations are not true. The company has been investigate before, in May 2014. It was found then that the company keeps a good track of their employees and verified the I-9 forms of the employees, kept to verify that they are American citizens.

“The outcome — in which the government thanked Indiana Packers Corporation for its cooperation and concluded ‘there is no basis for further investigation’ obviously speaks for itself,” Jeff Feirick, the company’s vice president for corporate planning.

So what would Indiana Packers gain from hiring illegal immigrants? According to allegations, the company hired illegal immigrants and then paid them minimum wage. It was much cheaper for them to hire the illegal immigrants because they did not have to pay them a better salary and they did not have to give them raises.

Indiana Packers is still under some suspicion, but it is unlikely that they will be in any real trouble.
