Delphi alumni honored through Wall of Distinction
The Wall of Distinction is a new way to honor accomplished alumni of Delphi Community High School. It is an award designed by the Delphi Oracle Alumni Association to honor the achievements and work that alumni have done.
“We formed a committee of seven people to research and establish the Wall of Distinction,” Mr. Strasser said of how the Wall of Distinction came to be. “The committee’s sole intent was to promote alumni accomplishments to current students and future alumni.”
The Wall of Distinction will be recognized on an alumni television that is located next to the Athletic Wall of Fame in the DCHS gymnasium. It will be on during prominent events that take place in the gym.
In order to be chosen for the Wall of Distinction, there are a few criteria that must be met. The award is given to a person (living or dead) who graduated from Delphi Community High School at least ten years prior to the time of nomination; made special achievements in the nominee’s category of nomination; earned honors, awards, or other recognition on local, national, or international levels; made meritorious contributions to society; and is of outstanding moral character and a role model for future graduates of DCHS. The winning nominee will receive a special plaque recognizing their induction at a reception on May 18 at the Delphi Canal Interpretive Center.
The winning nominees will be speaking with the DCHS sophomores, juniors, and seniors on May 19 in the Little Theatre during OT where they will share their stories of how Delphi has impacted their careers and helped lead to their success.
Mr. Strasser is extremely excited for the Delphi students to hear from the Wall of Distinction nominees. “I hope all DCHS students recognize the accomplishments of our WOD winning nominees. They were just like you growing up and they worked extremely hard in their careers to have an impact on the communities they worked and lived in. The winning nominees are a great example on how successful Delphi students can become if you dream and work towards it. Our alumni are very important to the future of our school corporation and many alums still follow our current students’ achievements through clubs, arts, athletics, and success that our current students are finding.”
