Preparing for E-Learning the right way

It is that time of the year again. We have many layers of jackets and coats, gloves, a hat, and a scarf wrapped around us like a hungry snake. With winter comes snow and with snow comes school cancellations. As a kid, these were the best days of the winter. We got to bundle up and play in the snow. Then when all of our pairs of gloves were soggy and we couldn’t feel our toes, we would come in and enjoy a relaxing cup of hot chocolate and maybe snuggle up to watch our favorite movie.

Now that we are in high school, we are blessed with E-Learning. We get to fill our backpacks with all of our books and folders. Backs begin to hurt, backpacks start to break, and we get stuck between the seats walking to our seat on the bus. BUT THERE IS AN EASIER WAY! Follow my tips and tricks for preparing for E-Learning. You’ll never lose a good backpack again.

Tip #1: Ask your teachers about assignments ahead of time- If you know you are to have a storm that night, your teacher will normally have an assignment already planned out.

Tip #2: Take pictures of your book pages- For example, if you know you are in Chapter 8, Section 3 in math, take pictures of that section in case you have book work for your E-Learning

Tip #4: Ask about my.hrw.com- This is an online website that has most school books so that you don’t have to bring that book home. I know that Spanish and Math classes provide the username and password to their class books on this site.

Tip #4: Make a homework folder- Instead of bringing home 7 different folders, put all your homework pages in one folder. Then you won’t have to search through your bag trying to find your math folder that looks just like your English.

Tip #5: Make sure you have a laptop that is working and charged- Most teachers use Google Classroom as an everyday app to get their assignments out. Therefore, most assignments will be posted online.

Tip #6: Get yourself an E-Learning buddy- If you think you might have a storm, stay at a friend’s house the night before so that you can keep each other on track and help one another with homework.

Tip #7: Go to the library for free-wifi and a quiet place to work- If it gets too bad outside, many houses lose power. With the loss of power comes the loss of wifi and that means you cannot get on Google Classroom to get your assignments. The library provides free wifi and a quiet place to work. It is never a bad idea.

With these tips you will save the threads of many of your favorite backpacks. You won’t have to lug all your books back and forth and you’ll stay clean and organized. You might even be able to have a sleepover with your best friend. Best of luck on your E-Learning adventures.
