Gear’s guide to not being late
We have all had those weeks where it is simply impossible to get to school on time. For some of us, that is every week (myself included). Here are a couple tips to ensure you don’t miss the bus or pull into the parking lot after 8:00.
- Pick out your outfit before you go to bed.
Or at least think about what you want to wear. Have a backup plan in case your sister stole your go-to shirt.
- As soon as you wake up, get up.
Don’t lull in bed. If you stand up right away, you’ll have more motivation as soon as your feet hit the floor.
- Be organized.
Pack your bags the night before. Know where your backpack is. Charge your laptop. Take care of these things the night before so you’re not in panic mode in the morning.
- Breakfast can be on the go
Pop Tarts are always a good option if you are running late. Also, the school sells breakfast in the morning (just make sure you finish it before first period).
- Speed.
You do what you gotta do. By speed, I don’t mean go 100 mph. But 67 in a 60 is just the encouragement you need.
- Pay attention to the bells.
This one sounds obvious, but you’d be surprised by how many people use, “Oh, I didn’t hear the bell,” as their excuse. Know the five minute bell from the one minute bell.
If you take my advice, getting to school on time will not be a struggle. Being late every once in awhile is not bad, but don’t make it a habit because five tardies is an ISS and, even though we tire of hearing about it, punctuality really does matter.
