Homecoming Overview
Berto Field was an exciting place to be last Friday night with many events going on simultaneously.
From shopping carts to golf carts, I’m sure we can all agree that our class floats have made an improvement. The freshman cart brought down the thunder to the field with a Viking ship. I’m not sure what happened to the sophomore cart because I hear it floated away with an UP theme. The junior class took us back to our childhood dreams of what high school was like with High School Musical’s Sharpay and Ryan and their pink golf cart. Harambe returned to DCHS with the senior class cart, but don’t worry he was all caged up. The judges decided and the Class of 2017 came home with a win once again.
Earlier in the week, the student body elected class candidates for homecoming princesses and queen. Friday night the votes were counted and our 2016 homecoming queen is . . . drumroll please . . . Madeline Hollingsworth. *insert whoops and hollers* Congratulations to the newly named queen! Madeline was escorted by James Dyer; alongside them was Princess Emilee Gear escorted by Dalton Briles, Princess Rylee Lane with escort Cole Rickels, and Princess Emma Wise and escort Kaleb Kinsler. The underclassmen led the court that evening with freshman Princess Lillie Smith with escort Gabe Wilson, sophomore Princess Kate-Lynn Bennett, and junior Princess Morgan Fritz with escort Colten Slifer. The girls looked stunning and the boys looked dapper, but the real winners here are the guys who didn’t allow the ladies to fall flat on their pretty faces. Great job to all the participants!
Who knew that there was a time when Greek mythology and Viking folklore clashed together, but they surely did Friday night when the Delphi Oracles faced off against the North White Vikings. The Oracles then brought home another win this season, ending the game with a 28 – 14 score.
