Winter homecoming
As basketball season is dwindling to an end, we’ve finally come upon the week of homecoming. This past Friday night, we welcomed back the dear faces of our Delphi alumni, crowned our Homecoming King and Queen, cheered on our home basketball team, and announced a new record holder for Delphi Community High School.
This past week, we voted in a homecoming court which included a pair from each grade level and eight nominees for the senior class for the crown of homecoming king and queen. The homecoming court included Holly Cosgray and Adam Rider for the freshman class, Rylee Lane and Jacob Clouser for the sophomore class, and Kayla Eli and Jacob Rider for the junior class. The senior nominees for queen were Caydence McClain, Mekenzie Gear, Hayden Crawford, and Alex Baldwin. The senior nominees for king were Noah Rider, Tucker Trapp, Josh Gillam, and Tyler Ross. Although everyone looked great, the power duo of Tyler Ross and Alex Baldwin were crowned homecoming king and queen.
Delphi’s basketball team had a successful homecoming night beating Frontier 72-48. Not only did our basketball team come out with a win, but senior Brent Hawn was added to Delphi’s 1,000 Point Club along with other Delphi greats such as Rainey Alting, Whitney Arion, Austin Hawn, and Cole Murray. In Friday night’s game, Hawn also broke two school records: most 3 point field goals scored in a single game (10), and most 3 point field goals scored in a career (78).
Homecoming night was great, as always. We were able to visit with some of Delphi’s past students, enjoy a good basketball game, watch our 2015 homecoming king and queen be crowned, and witness Delphi sports’ history. What a night!
