Senior Brooke Beale recently received the chance of a 4-H member’s lifetime. She was chosen along with ten other 4-H members from Indiana to go to a conference made up of 1500 others from all over the country.
This year’s national 4-H Congress was in Atlanta, Georgia and lasted almost a week, Brooke was able to meet many different and fascinating people, watch public speakers and learn a lot of new things. While there, she decided to embrace the opportunity a little bit more.
Brooke applied for a position on the design team that would help set up the Congress for next year. She had to make a video, send a resume, write a leadership philosophy paper, and then fill out a general application for the job. Only eight lucky people would be chosen.
Brooke did all of the right things because she was one of the lucky eight. Because she was chosen, she will help decide what community projects next year’s Congress attendees will partake in, who will come and speak, and other things that have to go along with next year’s Congress.
On Feb. 1-3, she will travel back to Atlanta to meet up with the design team so they can trade e-mails, ideas, and thoughts on how to tackle such a big task and honor. They will plan everything together via e-mail after that. “I’m really excited and honored to be able to partake in such a great opportunity,” commented Brooke.
