The IHSAA Girls Basketball Sectionals started last Tuesday with a Central Catholic victory over Seeger, 71-35, and Clinton Prairie clinching the win over Covington 46-37. On Friday night, Delphi faced off against Clinton Prairie, and Clinton Central against Carroll. The Oracles advanced to the Sectional finals at the end of the night, led by Jenna Roth with 21 points, sweeping Clinton Prairie 41-29. CC finally prevailed over Carroll in a nail-biter, final score within 4 points, 43-39, advancing to face the Oracles. The Sectional Championship followed on Saturday, in a difficult, but well fought match. The Knights ended up prevailing over our Oracles, 45-22 in seniors Lacey Pickering, Lexi Miller, Nikita Lear, and Lena Strack’s last game. The girls had a great season under coach Dave Gilbert in his first year, finishing with a winning record of 15-9 and making it to the sectional championship! We are looking forward to seeing them do even better next year.
