Girls basketball team prepares for sectionals

The Lady Oracles basketball team is finishing up its final games of the season and working hard to be ready for the state tournament. The team is currently 10-12, with only one game left in the regular season against Tri-Central. The team has worked hard this year to improve slightly from last year’s 9-13 record.

The Oracles are led by senior Evann Royal and coached by first year coach Mr. Windlan. The team has had some ups and downs this year but has fought well through all adversity. The team’s longest winning and losing streaks are tied at three games. The main source of success for the team has been in the rising junior and sophomore classes that have stepped up to fill many of the varsity positions.

The team has bettered last year’s performance in points, assists, and turnovers per game. They are led offensively by sophomore Jenna Roth with 13.3 points per game, and junior Lacey Pickering with 3.3 assists per game. Defensively the team is led by sophomore Maddy Brown with 0.7 blocks per game, and Lacey Pickering with 3.3 steals per game.

The Lady Oracles will play their first sectional game on Jan 31 against the Seeger Patriots. The game will be played at Lafayette Central Catholic and tipoff will be at 6 p.m..
