Lady Oracles prepare for Sectional Opener
February is almost here and high school girls’ basketball teams across the state know what that means, the time to prepare for the postseason is among them. The Lady Oracles, under second year head coach Rainey Jones, look to cap off an impressive regular season. Delphi currently has a record of 13-7 with remaining matchups at Rossville (Jan. 26th) and senior night at home against North White (Jan. 27th).
Although the Lady Oracles are looking to win out their final two games of the season, their main focus has been set on the first round of the upcoming sectional. After the draw, Delphi realized the path to cutting down the nets would not be a simple task. In their opener next Wednesday, Feb. 1 at Knox High School, the Oracles will be squaring off against the Lady Bobcats of Oregon Davis. Davis, also coming off an impressive regular season, currently sit at a record of 15-6. Impressive wins for the Bobcats this season include a 64-61 O.T. advantage over the Falcons of Glenn High School and a 50-47 edge over Argos.
In their matchup against Davis, the Lady Oracles will seek leadership from seniors Rylee Lane, Bailey Gasser, and Kayla Fogarasi, all three having experience in a postseason atmosphere. Delphi also expects another offensive charge to be led by junior and three-point sharpshooter Katherine Lang.
With a win over Davis, Delphi would advance to the Feb. 3 semifinal against the winner of North Newton and Winamac.
