Mote qualifies for state
After cruising his way through both sectionals and regionals, Delphi junior wrestler Hunter Mote placed second in this year’s IHSAA semi-state. His final round loss came in the form a tough senior wrestler from Penn High School. Despite the loss, Mote still was able to clinch his spot in advancing to the state finals and continue a Delphi wrestling streak. Mote’s advancement marked the ninth year in a row that a Delphi wrestler has made it to the state finals in Indianapolis.
Mote wrestled in Indianapolis on Friday, Feb. 20. His season ended after a loss to Nathan Walton of Brownsburg. Mote finished tenth in state and ended the season with an overall record of 36-2.
