1964 team honored at Bacon Bowl
Delphi’s undefeated 1964 football team was honored at the annual Bacon Bowl on Friday, Aug. 29. With possibly the best attendance at Berto Field for a football game, spectators watched as the courageous members of the ’64 team proudly walked onto Berto Field one more time.
Prior to the game, before being honored, the ’64 team entered the home locker room to offer some advice to our present Oracles. Senior lineman Tyler Arion said, “The ’64 team was very cool to listen to and they were very motivating.” He also added that “they are something for us to play for.”
Jacob Clouser, a sophomore lineman for the Oracles, claimed, “The ’64 team was very inspirational, and they spoke of the valuable life lessons Coach Tony Berto taught them.”
Head Coach Josh Strasser said, “The messages from the ’64 team were not only inspiring to the players but were also inspiring to the coaches.” Strasser added, “It was great to finally meet these great men in person.”
Unfortunately, Indiana Football Hall of Fame coach Tony Berto passed away just days before this special event.
