10 reasons to date a reader

Farmers Only, eHarmony, Match. com, and OkCupid are a thing of the past! Now searching for a significant other has never been easier, just date a reader. Here are ten reasons why a reader makes an ideal significant other:

  1. We can give you the “perfect” date: books like All the Bright Places, and various other novels that dabble in romance have taught us exactly how to win someone over with clever and fun date night ideas.
  2. We know how to comfort hurting hearts: while reading books you grow to love the character(s) you’ve come to know, and unfortunately sometimes they deal with heartbreak. We hurt for our fictional heroes and want to be there for them, so you can bet all your money on the fact that we will be there for our partner when they feel like they’re hurting.
  3. If you ever get annoyed with, us hand us a book: this reason is pretty self explanatory, but let’s face it—hand us a book that we like and we’ll disappear for hours.
  4. We are proficient in survival skills: dystopian novels such as The Hunger Games and The Testing have taught us reliable survival skills that could save our lives . . . if we ever end up lost in the middle of nowhere.
  5. We get deep: a lot of books people read tend to bring up deep topics that most wouldn’t want to talk about in real life. However, if you’ve got a problem, we are willing to get deep and philosophical with you.
  6. We will put ourselves in your shoes: ever get into a fight with your partner? Worry no more! Reading has taught us how to look at many conflicts not only from our perspective, but yours.
  7. You’ll never have to make dinner: for an avid reader, there’s nothing better than good snacks and a book. We’ll probably do most of our eating on snack foods.
  8. We will carry on a conversation: bring up a subject that you know we like and we will 100% carry it on until you regret even bringing it up.
  9. Need bathroom help: there is an easy solution. Do what your book loving partner would do. Take reading material with you. We won’t judge if you’re in there too long.
  10. We will always hold a place in our hearts for you: absolutely cliche, but  just as we hold a special place for our favorite books, we will always have a special spot for you.
