October weather this year is forecast to be warmer and drier than average. In early October we have seen a slight warm-up, but cool air is expected in the later weeks of October.

Temperature

Forecast models show an average monthly temperature of 51° Fahrenheit , approximately 2° degrees Fahrenheit below the average, compared to previous years. In the early weeks of October we have seen a warmer pattern, with temperatures in the mid-70’s to 80’s. Later in the month the temperature will become cooler, with a day time high of 71° Fahrenheit and a low of 59° Fahrenheit. During the night time temperatures are expected to be in the 30’s to 40’s. So sweater and jacket weather is soon approaching for the late October weeks.

Precipitation

This October is expected to be drier than normal, with an average of 2 inches, 1 inch below average. While rain has been scarce; more is expected towards the end of the month.  Although some rain is expected, drought-like conditions are expected to persist. Snow is unlikely, but we have seen snow in October in past years so it is a possibility. Frost is expected to become more prominent; especially towards the end of the month.
