There is a lot going on at Delphi this week. Not only do we have the PSAT, SADD is also hosting their annual fall blood drive. The blood drive is Wednesday, October 6, from 8 AM-12 PM. The donating center is going to be in the auxillery gym. You can sign up at lunch, or online through the QR codes posted around the school. If you’re sixteen, you’ll need to have a signed parent permission slip & bring it on Wednesday. If you donate you’ll be able to get a pair of plaid PJ pants. Don’t worry if you can’t make this one; the NHS hosts another blood drive in the spring, where you can get a matching t-shirt to go with your pants.
Donating blood is very important; almost everyone will need blood at least once in their life. The blood that you donate will save at least three lives. Blood can be used for many different things. It can save lives during emergency situations, it can help during cancer treatments, help during surgery, and help new mothers and babies after birth. The blood that you donate will be going to local hospitals, and it will be used quickly. Not only are you saving lives; you also feel better after you donate because you have done a good thing. Versiti (the program SADD is working with) also recommend not self deterring, they recommend trying to donate and going through the process. I hope to see all of you on Wednesday!
