In 2018, Netflix released a show revolving around the art of Karate, called “Cobra Kai.” Following the original Karate Kid movies, “Cobra Kai” features characters from the original films, as well as an introduction of a new, younger cast. The show revolves around teenager, Miguel Diaz, and his journey to overcoming bullying by following his Karate Sensei, Johnny Lawrence. Lawrence appeared as an antagonist in the original series, but slowly develops as a character when the ghosts of his past come out to play. The series also features Daniel LaRusso, the main protagonist from the originals, and like Johnny, his character develops from the original movies’ plots.
It’s been over a decade since the release of sitcom, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and the show is available for streaming on multiple platforms. However, up until recently, only the first four seasons have been released on Netflix. Now, seasons 5 and 6 are available for viewing on the site, but 1 and 2 are no longer available. The series follows multiple main characters, all working in the NYPD’s 99th precinct in Brooklyn. Jake Peralta is on his way to becoming the best detective in the precinct and, through the duration of the show, mature in his personal life as well as professional. To join his journey is his best friend, Charles Boyle, along with other detectives Rosa Diaz and Amy Santiago.
