In the tiny town that calls itself Delphi, there are few (but reliable!) places to eat out. Coming soon is a recent installment to the fine cuisine found in restaurants in town, a new Italian restaurant, Paretta’s Italian Ristorante, next to the Opera House. The website, at the moment, is open to catering, with a fairly diverse selection of soups including: “Wedding Soup,” Minestrone, Gnocchi Soup, and Ribollita. The website also states that the menu is presently under construction, but be sure to be on the lookout for new menu items (we know we will!)
Under the “Our Story” tab on the site is a short and sweet, but equally endearing and heartfelt summary of the “Paretta” name and the hope for the restaurant as a whole. The origin of the name is a recovered document of the family, a signed name they liked so much, it became the inspiration for the name and dream of the restaurant. Even when the family discovered that the signed name had actually been “Parotta,” the original name had stuck around.
Paretta’s is located at 111 South Washington Street in Delphi, directly next to the beloved Delphi Opera House. They plan to have a variety of hours, from 5-10 pm on Monday-Thursday, and extended ones (5-11 pm) on Friday. Then, for the weekends, 11am-11pm on Saturday, and 10am-3pm on Sunday.
The owners intend to keep the restaurant a place of authentic Italian dishes, as they are representing the history of their ancestors as immigrants who came to the United States. The restaurant offers a brunch menu, desserts, pastas, salads, and soups. Each their own little piece of Italy, where the site states the owner’s hope to take you to with their true Italian cuisine. Starting November 1st, these rich Italian flavors can be enjoyed by the general public!
When not in the mood for pasta or soup, a new addition to Downtown Delphi, is a space for a delicious breakfast in the morning. From biscuits and waffles to coffee and espresso, Buttermilk Biscuit Company and Coffee Shop has everything to offer for something to grab before school.
While the name can give a pretty solid understanding of the establishment, there were neat surprises within the menu. In addition to an extensive list of caffeinated beverages for purchase, is a variety of entrees, as well. With salads, chicken strips, omelets, and waffles, the restaurant provides you with an abundance of options never lacking in any department. The coffee menu is even more full than that of the meals, with a multiplicity of flavors and specialty beverages based on various chocolate bars.
The hours for this establishment match the food they serve, and fall into the hours of a typical breakfast and lunch. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays follow the same hours of 6am-2pm. They will unfortunately be closed on Tuesdays, but will be open for business the other six days of the week. Then, on Sundays, the hours of operation only differ slightly from the average day, as they’ll be open from 7am-2pm. You can find this soon-to-be-open restaurant at 124 E Monroe St in Downtown Delphi!
