On October 4th, the football team will play Sheridan in this year’s Homecoming game. Homecoming will also double as Alumni night. Delphi starts the season off strong with a 4-2 winning record. At the game, Terrie Berto and Tanner Lynde will be formally inducted into the Hall of Fame. Terrie Berto, daughter of Tony Berto, played professional golf (PGA) and Tanner Lynde was a state champion for wrestling in 2012. Due to the weather at last week’s game, youth football and mini cheer was pushed to this week’s game as well. The homecoming court will be escorted by Gas City Corvettes during halftime. Each class will also have an opportunity to decorate a golf cart and be judged on the best theme.
While there is a lot going on at the football game, so much more happens leading up to Friday night. Every day of the week, there are different “spirit day themes” to follow that were picked out by the student council. Some of the themes include Black and Gold, Pink Out, and even Generation day. Another fun activity that takes place is the Powder Puff game that’ll happen Wednesday night. At the game, the boys from each grade will compete against each other in a game of volleyball, while the girls play football. The team that wins in volleyball will play the teachers at the pep rally on Friday. At the pep rally, also planned by the student council, students will have opportunities to play in a variety of games.
To end the homecoming week, the S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions) club will throw a semi-formal dance Saturday night. The dance is in the elementary school from 8:30-10 pm. S.A.D.D. members will spend Saturday morning decorating the gym to the theme “Disco Party.”
