New store to open in Delphi
A new store is coming to Delphi. On Feb. 8, a QC Supply is moving into 1576 W Highway 421 next to the Town and Country Barber Shop. The store will be selling products from clothing to hog gates.
While the business will be open on Feb. 8, the grand opening will be postponed until April with the hope that the COVID spike in our area will flatten. Even in April, there will still be limited capacity and masks required in the store according to general manager Blake Humpal. They would also like to have a food truck parked outside at the grand opening, but due to COVID, there is a decreased likelihood of that being possible. Humpal stated, “You can’t quite interact with customers like you would like to, but It has become the new normal over the past year.”
QC Supply is the second largest agriculture based franchise store in the US. It sells a variety of equipment, parts, and other items necessary to farming. The one coming to Delphi will be like a “mini Rural King” according to Humpal. They will sell clothes, power tools, dog products, power washers, and items relating to hog farming. According to local farmer Doug Mears, “It’s really not just for farmers, it’s for anyone with livestock.”
While QC Supply specializes in agricultural equipment, it also works on projects for hog farmers. One of their services they provide is that they build hog barns. They also make and sell gates, fans, vents, and other necessary items for hog barns. “We market to the American family farmers,” Humpal said.
In our area, the QC Supply will be beneficial, as Carroll County specializes in farming and pork production. Carroll County is the number one producer of pork products in Indiana and the fifth nationwide. Due to Carroll County’s widely agricultural background, the addition of this store should positively impact the community.
