Amanda Knox acquitted for the second time.

Amanda Knox was wrongfully accused of the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher. Meredith died on Nov. 1, 2007, in Perugia, Italy. Knox, her then boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, and Rudy Guede were originally charged with the murder and sexual assault of Kercher.

Kercher’s murder was violent. She had stab wounds and multiple lacerations on her neck. There was evidence that she was restrained by a human while she was getting murdered, which suggests two or more people were involved in this horrendous act. It was also determined that she was sexually assaulted. She had many defense wounds on her arms and hands.

Knox was a college student who wanted to study abroad and ended up in Perugia, Italy. She met her boyfriend and soon was pulled into a life she never would have imagined back in her town of Seattle, Washington. Rudy Guede was a known drug dealer and there were rumors that Knox and her boyfriend were drug users but that was never confirmed. Knox claimed that she saw Kercher going into her bedroom with a local bar owner before her death.

Knox might not have any hand in the murder, but she acted very suspiciously during the ongoing investigation.  She changed her alibi several times. One day she would say that she wasn’t home the night of the murder. but then claimed that she saw Meredith go into her bedroom with a owner of a local bar. The Italian police dubbed her the “Angel-Faced Killer.”

In 2009, the trio was convicted of Kercher’s murder and assault. Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison. Knox’s family was outraged and started a battle to free her from prison. In 2011 her conviction was overturned, she was cleared of charges and flew straight home. Her struggle wasn’t over yet. In 2013,the same year she released her book Waiting to Be Heard, the Italian court set aside the judgment that was used to acquit her. She was resentenced to 28 and a half years in prison. She filed another appeal and was cleared of charges yet again on Mar. 27, 2015.
