Easy hacks for quick spring cleaning

With the beginning of spring being only a few weeks away, it’s time to start thinking about all of the preparations that must be made to get in the full swing of the season. Of course, I mean the dreaded cleaning of the house to get rid of all the musty dust-bunnies that have been rampant in your house. Here are some easy ways to get your cleaning done as fast and efficiently as possible.

  1. Disinfect your sponge in the microwave. This is number one because it’s important to keep your cleaning supplies clean as you improve your house, this is the place to start. Put it inside the microwave for about a minute or so, it will kill most 99% of the bacteria that may be living on your sponge. Now, the real work begins.
  2. Put ice and citrus in your garbage disposal. This will not only clean it and wipe away the impurities, it will make your house smell of lemons or oranges (depending on the citrus of your choosing). It’s good for your pipes and this will make you ready for anything that your family will throw in your sink.
  3. Sprinkle baking soda on your stove top to eliminate grease. This quick hack is simple enough and yet super effective in your cleaning process. It will wipe away grime with a flick of your wrist and it’s something that is relatively on hand in your everyday household items.
  4. Use homemade wood cleaner for *borderline* everything. The first step: fill a bucket with warm water, and add 1/4 cup of white vinegar. Then you can wipe this on your floors and mop it up. Your floors will be looking as good as new, as long as you remember to wipe up all of the excess. This recipe also works for cleaning computer keyboards. If you pair this concoction with a microfiber wipe, your computer will quickly be cleaner than ever.
  5. Cleaning the carpets is made a lot easier now with these easy tricks. You can make some great homemade carpet powder: baking soda and a little bit of fragrance. If you add some essential oils for smell, your carpets will smell and look better than ever. Also, if you want to get out tough stains, try using shaving cream on the carpet and letting it sit for a few minutes. This will absorb most of the stain without the hassle of trying to brush it out with a rag.
  6. Clogged shower head? No problem. Soak it in distilled vinegar overnight and it’ll be brand new. This will remove all the buildup and have your shower head running smoother than ever.

Well, now we know that the premier cleaning supplies of the game consist of two major components: baking soda and vinegar. Whether you’re staying home for Spring Break or going away, make sure you use some of these easy steps to make your house a little more habitable. I wish you the best of luck in your cleaning endeavors. Your house will look spick and span in no time.
