Four ways to show gratitude to veterans

Veterans Day is a very special holiday in the United States with its main focus on honoring our military: those who have served, are currently serving, and those who have fallen. In order to make this truth a reality, we all must do our part. There are several ways to show our gratitude to veterans:

1. Thank them for their service.

Although it may feel a little cliche and underwhelming, it is always nice to be thanked. It doesn’t need to be much, just a simple handshake, or hug if allowed, and a ‘thank you’ can suffice.

2. Give them a card

It may feel a bit elementary, but cards are a great way to show your appreciation. It doesn’t need to be extravagant by any means, but a nice sincere thank you card is always a nice appreciation gift.

3. Go to a Veterans Day celebration

Veterans Day parades and other such celebrations are designed to show our appreciation to our military. Just showing up is a great way to show you care.

4. Listen to their story

Ask a veteran about their service, and listen to them. Of course, you shouldn’t press too far into the details, but by giving them your full attention you’re showing that you truly care and appreciate their sacrifices for our country.
