Spring Break is finally upon us. As swimsuits begin to fly off the shelves at department stores everywhere in anticipation for warm, 80 degree weather, major TV networks such as NBC, FOX, and CBS prepare for their annual spring series premieres. For those of us not gracing the sandy beaches of Virginia or Florida, this has become the highlight of our break.  Here are some new shows premiering this season to keep your eye out for.

Big Little Lies

Hoping to air in late March on HBO, Big Little Lies follows the lives of three mothers with children in kindergarten whose lives become intertwined after nurturing a great friendship, a friendship that ends in murder.  

Shot’s Fired

Be prepared for “Ferguson: The TV Show” in essence. This show follows a prosecutor as she investigates a series of racially charged shootings in a small Tennessee town. This show does not have a set release date, but keep your eyes open. It will premiere on FOX Network.

The Family

This show made its series premiere March 6, 2016 on ABC, but it’s certainly not too late to become addicted. This story follows a family mourning the death of their presumably dead son after he was missing for over a decade. When Adam makes a shocking return, questions begin to arise about his true identity, and a long buried family secret emerges.

Heartbeat

Heartbeat is an upcoming medical drama series based on real life Dr. Kathy Magliato. For all those Grey’s Anatomy fans out there, this one’s for you. The pilot is set to be released March 22, 2016 on NBC.

With all of these promising new shows to premiere later this month, who would want to go to the beach? I’d rather be huddled under a blanket, cuddling two cats, and watching TV any day.
