Delphi Football battle for veterans
The Delphi Oracles run out of the locker room as the bright lights illuminate Berto Field. Just like any other Friday night, the Oracle fans congregate together on one set of metal bleachers and the Lewis Cass Kings on the opposing side, anticipating the big game. But tonight, the focus is not just on football, but on something much deeper. Tonight, we stand together. Tonight, we gather to support our veterans.
On September 25, 2015, Delphi Community High School will be hosting the first annual Battle for Veterans football game. Coach Josh Stasser, who is heading the project, stated, “We have several projects in the works as I am currently working with the National Guard, Patriot Riders and some other great contributors.“ Before the start of the game, TAPS will be played by Navy Veteran, Dick Grantham, alongside the 21 gun salute by the honor guard, in remembrance of the fallen soldiers. Halftime will consist of a line up of all present veterans. They each will be honored by branch in front of the home stands. “We hope all fans will remain in their seats and thank them with a thunderous applause,” said Strasser.
For more information or to sign up to participate in this event, either contact Josh Strasser at [email protected], call 765-564-3481 to RSVP, or contact your local legion.
