On Tuesday, September 24th, Delphi’s Mayor Kamron Yates visited Delphi Community High School for the “Lunch and Learn” in the LMC to answer some questions students had for him. I was lucky enough that he agreed to be interviewed by me and here are the five questions I asked him and his responses.
1.Q. What were some aspects being mayor were you aware of before being elected into office?
A. “The difference between having a public/work life and having to balance that in the community with everyone knowing who I am.”
2.Q. What is one aspect you hope to improve in Delphi while you are in office?
A. “Improving the housing conditions for students attending school.”
3.Q. Has being the mayor affected your personal life for better or for worse?
A. “For the better. I have built relationships with people I didn’t know before along with sharing my vision with the people and the city.”
4.Q. What encouraged you to become the Mayor of Delphi?
A. “From learning about the government to the city itself and having the opportunity to expand upon the potential that lies within Delphi for not only my vision but also the residents of Delphi.”
5.Q. Do you plan on running for another term in office?
A. “Yes. I will run as many times as people want me to run.” (He was asked within the first month of his term.)
