The impact of musical theater at DCHS

Many high school students know the toll that rigorous core classes can put on us. We spend eight periods a day focusing on numbers, figures, plots, and storylines and sometimes overlook the benefits of theater and arts in our school. We get so caught up in our GPA and scholarships that we don’t fully appreciate the importance of theater and what it can do for us. For example, musical theater promotes brain activity and fully develops the left side of the brain. Not only that, but it stems creativity, improves concentration, and boosts many teen’s self esteem. Before we all go home at the end of each day, try to think about different programs that you can benefit from that are within these very walls. If you are interested in deepening your involvement in musical theater, tune into my next OO about our very own spring musical specifics.
