Purdue and IU basketball matchups

On Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 4 and 5, the Purdue and IU men’s and women’s basketball teams faced off in huge rivalry games. For the men’s game, the nation leading Purdue Boilermakers had a less than optimal beginning, trailing the Hoosiers by 15 at the half. The Hoosiers won the game 79-74, handing the Boilers their second loss of the season. Purdue is currently ranked 1st in the nation and IU is ranked 18th. For the women’s game, the Hoosiers were heavily favored, being ranked 4th in the nation. The game ended 69-46, and the IU team was elevated to 2nd in the nation in the following Associated Press poll. The Purdue women’s team is 15-8 and only a couple of games behind the tail-end of the top 25 list.
