Superman Smashes the Klan

Superman Smashes the Klan by Gene Luen Yang is a graphic novel and Eliot Rosewater nominee. The book follows split views from journalist Clark Kent and the Lee family. The Lee family moved from Chinatown to downtown Metropolis. Tommy Lee quickly adjusted to the changes, quickly making friends with neighborhood kids, such as Jimmy Olsen, and joining the club baseball team. However, his younger sister, Roberta, feels out of place. As the kids go about their day, evil is stirring. The KKK begins to target the Lee family. Superman is able to fight the klan’s terror all while exploring the origin of his power. Overall, I enjoyed this book. I’m not a huge graphic novel fan, so I don’t think I would read it again, but I would highly recommend it to someone who does like graphic novels. (4.53/5 stars on Goodreads)
