The Mary Shelley Club
The Mary Shelley Club by Goldy Moldavsky is another one of this year’s Rosie nominees. The book follows the main character, Rachel Chavez, as she starts at her new school Manchester Prep. Being one of the few scholarship kids at the school, she struggles to fit in, until she attracts the attention of the Mary Shelley Club. The club’s main goal is to come up with the scariest prank to orchestrate real fear. But soon the pranks escalate and get out of hand and end up taking a life. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I thought the plot was really thought out and thought provoking. However, the ending seemed really rushed as if the author had run out of pages and had to quickly conclude the novel. (3.94/5 stars on Goodreads)
