Animal Science welcomes new pygmy goats

After Philip and Theresa Martin from Camden were awarded an America’s Farmers Grow Communities donation, and they directed the donation to Delphi’s agriculture department last August, our Animal Science classes finally have the pygmy goats they’ve always wanted. While they are not named yet, the names are set to be voted on here soon. The hope is that with the goats, students can get hands-on experience with less of a risk of getting hurt for those who have no prior experience with livestock. The goats have also had some challenges come with them, such as two of the goats had pink-eye when they got them, but that gave the students a good chance to help treat that. As the goats grow older, the plan is to breed the females, and likely sell the males at the end of the year to buy more females. If you ever want to see the goats you can, just make sure to clear it with Mr.Plank first.
