RY group volunteers at Abby & Libby Memorial Park
On April 16, Mr. Gleason’s OT volunteered to help install safety walls and place mulch at the Abby & Libby Memorial Park. The group worked for three hours to put up barrier walls and mulch around two separate areas of playground equipment to help the playground meet safety standards. The service work was planned in Mr. Gleason’s OT as an RY activity. According to Mr. Gleason, “We have spent a lot of time in our RY group talking about things like decision-making, self-esteem, time management, releasing stress through hard work, fun, and exercise. It was nice to be able to put some of these ideas into practice out in the community to help the kids see these skills in action.”
