NHS makes bylaw change; GPA requirement raised

National Honor Society President Ava Charnley, with the support from the rest of the NHS members, officially changed the NHS bylaw with Mr. Painter on Friday, Jan. 21. The previous bylaw stated that in order to be in the NHS, a student had to have a B+ average GPA, whereas the new bylaw states that an A- average GPA is necessary. It was put to a vote that Friday during OT and the majority voted to change it to an A- average. Mr. Painter said that he had been thinking about changing them for a couple years, as the majority of National Honor Societies around the United States have an A- average. This new law will go into effect next school year, so there will be no change in the current NHS members.
