Americanized: Rebel Without a Green a Card  by Sara Saedi is a memoir about a very smart young girl finding out the truth about her family: they are undocumented. It’s really hard to come to terms with your existence in the United States being illegal, and it’s something that she struggles with. Even worse is finding it out from your older sister who is aggravated at not being hired anywhere due to the lack of a social security number. Fear of deportation keeps Sara awake at night, but she keeps on living and enjoying her teenage years. This memoir shows her journey toward getting her green card. The author’s light-hearted tone makes this book a very enjoyable read. (3.92/5 stars on Goodreads)
