Sportsmanship Spotlight: Grace O’Neil

Sportsmanship Spotlight: Grace O’Neil

Winner of not one but two positive sportsmanship referrals, senior swim team captain Grace O’Neil is best known for her avid cheering on the pool deck. When asked where her passion sprouted she said, “I noticed my teammates would only cheer for the fast people. That was my freshman year.” That’s when Grace decided to start cheering on the underdogs and soon enough she found that being loud became her favorite part of swimming, even if she came home with a  hoarse voice. Her vision is to get the whole team motivated to cheer loudly, letting the other teams know how sportsmanship in swimming should be.
